Congratulations to the Department of Dance at the University of Richmond for their successful performances this past weekend. They premiered a work of mine “Arrival” and the dancers as well as the production team did a beautiful job.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this first month of teaching at and heading the dance program at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle. Super engaging and committed students and a wonderful faculty. Cornish has an incredible history with the likes of Merce Cunningham and John Cage setting a tone of interdisciplinarity and collaboration and I am excited to see how we, as a program can lean into that legacy as we are moving the program forward this year…
We acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts for our upcoming project : WOOD NOT THE GRAIN PLANE.
About Canada Council for the Arts
The Canada Council for the Arts contributes to the vibrancy of a creative and diverse arts and literary scene and supports its presence across Canada and around the world. The Council is Canada’s public arts funder, with a mandate to “foster and promote the study and enjoyment of, and the production of works in, the arts.” The Council’s grants, services, initiatives, prizes, and payments support Canadian artists, authors, and arts groups and organizations. This support allows them to pursue artistic expression, create works of art, and promote and disseminate the arts and literature. Through its arts funding, communications, research, and promotion activities, the Council fosters ever-growing engagement of Canadians and international audiences in the arts. The Council’s Public Lending Right (PLR) program makes annual payments to creators whose works are held in Canadian public libraries. The Council’s Art Bank operates art rental programs and helps further public engagement with contemporary arts through exhibition and outreach activities. The Council is responsible for the Canadian Commission for UNESCO, which promotes the values and programs of UNESCO to contribute to a future of peace, reconciliation, equity, and sustainable development.

The fearless and dynamic dancers at Copenhagen Contemporary Dance School.
Completed a residency at Nashville Ballet last week. An inspiring residency working with some pretty extraordinary artists.
Flashback Friday: a collaboration with British multimedia designer/artist Usman Haque. This solo was staged at the Hillside Gallery in Tokyo and at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography in 2000.

Lovely reconnecting today with this lovely group of dancers and directors of one of my favorite companies in Mexico. I have worked with this gorgeous group on/off since 2009 and it is so inspiring to see the company continuing to find ways to present work during the pandemic.
In this psychedelic space these days doing a commission on zoom...

TBT: A moment from one of my earlier works “Gravity” from 2009. Loved the concept of this work - simple yet powerful. As I am getting ready for a busy Spring, it is good to remember projects that are grounded in physical concepts!
