For their finals last semester the brilliant students in my composition class at Cornish did a collaborative project with students in the Art Department and additionally they worked with the technology company Future Arts in Seattle. Some truly inspired work was created by all.
A new work that premiered this last weekend at Cornish Playhouse in downtown Seattle.
The work was choreographed in collaboration with my students at Cornish College of the Arts.
Lines Drawn was conceived as if a ritual for an imagined community to move through daily, to repeatedly define their world over and over as if movement created the world, and vice versa.
Congratulations to the Department of Dance at the University of Richmond for their successful performances this past weekend. They premiered a work of mine “Arrival” and the dancers as well as the production team did a beautiful job.
Thank you to all of our extraordinary collaborators (Alex Barsky, Jesper Egelund, Tara McArthur, Brian Nelson, Jack Chipman, Kevin Kiju Kimi, Jan Andrews, Dena Eaton and more…) and to all who came out during the blizzard on December 22nd at Left of Main in Vancouver’s historic Chinatown!
Video created by Alex Barsky.
I am excited to start working on NOW-ID’s upcoming production AND SO WE SOW at Left of Main in Vancouver. It is interdisciplinary project that includes animation projection by Animator Alex Barsky, live music composition by Jesper Egelund and more. The work will premiere on December 22nd, 2022.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this first month of teaching at and heading the dance program at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle. Super engaging and committed students and a wonderful faculty. Cornish has an incredible history with the likes of Merce Cunningham and John Cage setting a tone of interdisciplinarity and collaboration and I am excited to see how we, as a program can lean into that legacy as we are moving the program forward this year…
We acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts for our upcoming project : WOOD NOT THE GRAIN PLANE.
