I’ve just returned from two inspiring weeks in Singapore, where I had the pleasure of collaborating with the incredibly talented artists in LASALLE College of the Arts’ Dance Department.
The residency was a wonderful period of making, experimenting, questioning, and collaborating. Over two weeks, we worked together to create a new piece—an experience shaped by the curiosity, generosity, and creativity of the students and faculty. There is something particularly exciting about being in a room with artists who are willing to take risks, try things out, and discover where the work might lead together.
The new work will premiere this spring before heading out on tour, and I’m so excited to see where it goes next. If you’re in Singapore, I hope you’ll have the chance to see these beautiful artists perform and experience the work we created together.
I believe this was my tenth visit to Singapore, which makes returning feel especially meaningful. It’s always a pleasure to be back—to reconnect with the city, discover new corners, revisit familiar ones, and simply enjoy being there. Singapore has changed in many ways over the years, but there’s a wonderful familiarity to returning again and again.
A huge thank you to the students and faculty of LASALLE’s Dance Department for welcoming me so generously and making these two weeks such a rich, memorable experience. I’m grateful for the time, the conversations, the dancing, the laughter, and all of the discoveries along the way.
Until next time, Singapore!
