Vilhelm Lauritzen and David Byrne - both in the same week. / by Charlotte Boye-Christensen

Last week in Copenhagen, I was granted a tour of the Vilhelm Lauritzen Terminal with my collaborator, Jesper Egelund. It is an extraordinary space, possessed of a rare, quiet gravity. We are already turning over the idea of creating a work there in the near future; the building seems to demand it.

I returned to Vancouver and went to see David Byrne’s Who is the sky. Somewhere in the dark of that performance, the two experiences began to hum on the same frequency. A strange, unmistakable connection. Something is beginning to take shape.
